Generosity

Although affiliated with the world-wide Triratna Buddhist community, the Auckland Buddhist Centre is an independent registered charity which relies entirely on self-generated income. We currently support two part-time employees who manage our facilities, programming and teaching. All other teachers at the centre are acting on a voluntary basis.

Our core purpose is to make the Dharma available and accessible to all who seek its wisdom in this troubled world. We aspire to offer it freely to all who wish to explore and practice. However, it does cost well over $1,000 per week to keep the Auckland Buddhist Centre running.

If you are interested there are a number of ways you can help us:

Monthly Standing Donations

To run the ABC we rely on a number of sources of income one of which is Monthly Standing Donations (MSD’s). These regular donations help us to gain a greater regularity in our income so that we can budget for our ongoing expenses.

Would you be willing to contribute a regular monthly donation directly into our bank account?

If you already make an MSD, would you consider increasing the amount? Anything you give will be very gratefully received.

If you would like to discuss this further please contact us or you can start your MSD by filling out this form which includes our account details and return it to us. You will need to arrange with your bank to set up a regular automatic payment. Please make sure your name and ‘MSD’ is noted in the reference field when setting up your payment. All donations are tax deductible and an annual receipt will be sent if necessary.

Please contact us if you have any questions about setting up an MSD.

One off Donations

We are very fortunate to have our own beautiful centre in the heart of Grey Lynn, Auckland where we can practise. Over the years we have made many improvements to it. However there is always more work to be done. We would like to complete our landscaping project, reline the shrine room ceiling, replace lighting and upgrade our toilets so that they are wheel chair friendly. There are also ongoing maintenance jobs to attend to such as interior and exterior painting ... all of which take precious funds to complete.

One off donations can help enormously towards completing larger projects and addressing our general maintenance requirements. If you are able to help in this way please contact us to discuss further or you can make your donation direct into our bank account:12 3022 0345564 03. Please note your name and ‘DON’ in the reference field and let us know if you require a tax receipt.

Volunteering

We have a dedicated team of volunteers who help us in a wide range of ways from supporting classes and mowing lawns to providing valuable IT support to our office. If you are able to volunteer your services in any way we would really like to hear from you.

It can be as simple as sweeping the pavement on Friday afternoons, helping us to keep the windows clean and other regular tidying up (unfortunately, like everything else, tidiness is impermanent).

You could also join our ongoing maintenance team which has new projects each year.

Please contact us for further information.
